Remember the turbo mufflers- small, free flowing, for use in Corvairs? Auger Powers were about the same size, with steel baffles inside, but you could see light through them, through a big screw inside, like on a post hole drill. Free flowing, good power, moderate noise.
Mufflers were staggered on the right side, with the left tail pipe going over the rear drive shaft and out the left. Splitting an in-line 6 in the middle will fire 3 cylinders out each header evenly spaced, where splitting a Vee engine by left/right will give an irregular pulse, like the Harley potato-potato.
Or the girls in a row at the nude beach, lying one on her back, one one her stomach, next one on her stomach...
