Maybe someone already said it, but to me, function trumps looks, and when a machine is ugly from a style point of view, but is that way because of functional considerations, it becomes beautiful. Guns are good examples as well as Power Wagons. A fine gun looks the way it does because of its function, thereby posessing a beauty all its own. The only thing purposely stylish about my flat fender PW is the design of the door and window handles, and I assume they were actually designed for other vehicles and used on the trucks because they were available already. The only other aspect of a PW that is not stricly functional that comes to mind is the color.
