Hi Mike,
I cant recall exactly, 2 or 3, and maybe 3/16" diameter. They get drilled right into the threads, so look right under the lip of the cap. You should be able to see them from the inside, peering in through the various holes. I am thinking that the pins are tapered, and driven into a straight hole. I believe they need to be tapped out from the inside using small ball bearings dropped into the holes and then using your punch on the balls.
Warning: No manuals were harmed in the making of this post! Only a few dozen brain cells but thats a lost cause anyway!
