Not any help now, but for the future. I use a program called 'Supper Duper' for my backups.
I have a 160 gig USB hard drive. Super Duper copies your Main Hard Drive to the Backup Hard Drive in a Mirror Image. Then as you continue to back up, items added or removed from your main hard drive are done likewise on the Mirror Back Up Drive.
Should a major failure happen, Simple remove the Mirror Back up hard drive and install it in place of your main hard drive and your back and running in a very short time.
Super Duper backs up, adds and removes 45 gig of data on my backup Hard Drive in a little short of 7 minutes. I back up nightly.
The Super Duper I use is a Mac Application. They may also make a Windows version, or someone else probably has something like this for windows.
Being a non computer person, this should save my sanity if I ever have a main hard drive problem. To test it before failure, I did swap drives and the Mirror drive brought the Mac up as if nothing had been changed.
