Glad all is well in the South Bay area.
The good news is that it was 9KM deep. That really helps to dampen the effect at the surface. It is the shallow ones that really cause heck because you do not have a lot of earth to dampen the energy.
I remember several shakers when I lived in the Bay Area and Alaska. Only one quake ever rattled me and that was one here in Seattle several years back. It rocked and rolled for quite some time and the building I was in really rolled but came out without a crack.
