The friction dampens the motion, so no shocks needed. The more leafs, the more friction, so shox needed even less on bigger trucks. Or that was the theory. I know I drove a 1/2t Ford that was missing it's rear shox for two miles, and got sea sick. But my '53 FFPW with it Sears Tower stack of leafs doesn't move at all. Rust, perhaps, compounded by the lack of a bed?
