The cheapest thing you could do is buy larger u-joints and axles to hold up to the power of the 383.
No 1/2 ton's are work trucks.
There are a few 3/4 ton Sweptlines converted to Cummins, expect to spend close to $10,000 for the conversion.
It's tight, but it fits.
