Roger, May I suggest that a inexpensive MIG welder is going to be a source of headache and heartache. If your thinking so some off shore brand, consider repair and spare parts avaliability. Also if its to small (120 volt AC) you will not be able to handle heavy material. A quality Lincoln or Miller MIG with Gas will be a investment that will probably last your lifetime. I would suggest talking to your local Lincoln or Miller Welding Supply, tell them your intended uses, including future fabrication with heavier stock and get their recomendation.
