If the transmission, transfer case and diffs seem to be working properly, I'd just drain the oil, pull the PTO off the trans and drain that, and clean out the gunk at the bottom of the trans. Refill all the gearboxes with quality mineral gear oil. I would repack all the wheel bearings and trunion bearings/ bushings while you have the engine out and are awaiting rebuild. Get the proper books and read them over before you go out to do the work.

Then again, unless your are an ASE Certified mechanic you probably should not be working on your Power Wagon at all. (Just kidding on that one!)
