You can't imagine some of the dangerous, inane things I have seen installed by homeowners/shop owners, trying to save $100. Not only life threatening but expensive to the tune of thousands of dollars.
Using the wrong breaker or wire size, the wrong phasing or voltage, can all result in ruining a good compressor, melting down your shop and or exploding your electrical panel.
I can't type any more right now, I'm in the middle of transplanting my kidneys....
