Cummins Engine Company, Inc. (NYSE:CUM) said today it had received confirmation from Jim Holden, President, DaimlerChrysler Corporation, that DaimlerChrysler had no plans to displace the Cummins diesel engine in its Dodge Ram pickup truck, and that it very much values the partnership and consumer draw that Cummins affords DaimlerChrysler. Holden confirmed that reports to the contrary were inaccurate.
"I spoke to Jim Holden last night in Auburn Hills, who confirmed that Cummins would remain the diesel engine option in its Dodge Ram pickup truck," said Cummins Chairman and CEO Tim Solso. "Cummins’ engines and DaimlerChrysler’s Dodge Ram pickup truck have been a winning combination in the marketplace for the last 12 years. That winning partnership will continue."
