rear axle backing plate riveted on

the backing plate and spindle on my 47 WDX are riveted on. Is this normal? the drawing in the Dodge parts manual shows the spindle permanantly attached (or that's what it looks like) but doesn't show the backing plate.

Anyway, I was dissassembling to install disc brakes and ultimately a centered axle housing. So I don't necessarily even need this offset housing.

But if I buy a centered housing from Veteran Vehicles, will it come with the spindles? Anyone bought one of Bob Stahls' axle housings?
