I can understand wanting to be somewhere else!
Not sure why your having problems. I looked at your album closer and it seems to me it was wired correctly.
However I didn't see a diode in the ing. wire?
Let me back up. The wire that you have on the "R" or #1 terminal,where does that come from?
If it is coming anywhere else,other than the ign. you will have a drain on the battery while not in use.
It must come from the ign. through a diode.
This wire excites the Alt. The diode blocks current flowing back to the truck so it will shut off,and not drain the battery.
The #2 wire senses the current demand,that's why it's hooked to the battery.
Still not sure myself why the gauge is pegged.
The wireing is simple. Rechechck the way I just said.
Should work.
