I guess that would be a good question to ask Chrysler as well. These trucks started out with a 217 CI motor then they went to a bigger 230. The Power Wagons kept the 230 for a while then Chrysler replaced it with a bigger motor. They upgraded the brakes as well on the 41's too.
I can appreciate any truck whether it has been a Restored Original or modified. BUT, I tend to loose interest when something is cobbled up or done unsafely.
Bigger motor then starts showing up the next weak link- axles, brakes and drivetrain as they weren't designed to handle that much so it opens a can of worms. Trust me, I know.
You have more options with Chevy parts and are more plentiful and cheaper around here. Once again, personal choice.
I look at car maunfactures for what they are...assemblers. They use all sorts of outside suppliers(read NP, Dana, Braden, etc) and bring it all together for a piece of equipment that serves a purpose.
I believe all 3 major car manufactures have used Dana axles(maybe not Ford)as an example so How can one say that Dodge axles are better than Chevy? Kevin
