An accident happened right in front of me today. I was loading some hydraulic hoses into my truck when this guy trots past me and straight out into the street. He was promptly nailed by a car that was turning right with a green arrow. Fortunately for him the driver was on her toes and caught his movement and reacted, even though he came from her blind spot. He wasn't severely injured and seemed reluctant to allow the the Para-medics to treat him. What makes this humorous is that when he got hit, the property he was carrying got scattered in the street. The property turned out to be a bunch of industrial quality shears and scissors this guy had just stolen from the shop next to the Hydraulic outfit where I had been. I was standing with the investigating officer and talking to the guy while he sat on the gurney. I just had to ask him, "Didn't your mother ever warn you about running with scissors" I thought the Medics and the Cop were going to wet themselves . If the guy had his wits about him, he could have run off. Needless to say, the shoplifter wasn't terribly amused by all this.
