The 53 block is prone to cracking due to thin casting on the water jacket. To check you shoud see the numbers 53 under the turbo, they are big and easy to read. We have two 98s here that do not have the 53 blocks
That was pretty much the last of the 12 valves, they are bullet proof and can be modded for very few dollars. I got rid of my 05 and went back to a 98 12 v. I really dont see me buying a new truck again.
