In my application to use a GM Saginaw PS Box in my M37, I found that the Stock M37 Pitman Arm would not fit the Output shaft on the GM Saginaw Box I had. The GM Saginaw box that AGR Converted with a 210 valve had a stock output splined shaft that started at 1.1875" and tapered to 1.250" at the box end. Thus I used a 66 Caddy Pitman arm which was Plug And Play on the GM Saginaw output shaft. I dont have a spare Power Wagon Pitman arm to see if it would fit on the GM Saginaw PS Box that is on my M37, so that fit is a unknown at this time.

The output shafts on the Saginaw Reverse Rotation Boxes have a spline every 10 degrees and every 90 degrees one spline is missing. This in a way Keys the Pitman Arm to the Output Shaft allowing the arm to only fit on in 4, 90 degree positions. This was done for installation accuracy in the assembly lines. Meaning that the installer on the assembly line could not be off by a few splines and have the steering wheel not in the designed position. If you take the pitman arm and file in the missing spline at the (4) 90 degree locations where its missing, you now can index the pitman arm every 10 degrees and end up with your wheels straight ahead and also the spokes in the steering wheel pointing to where you want them. This in no way does anything to the strength of the pitman arm spline, we are just adding the 4 missing splines. I learned this trick from a company that makes approved Pitman arms, their Pitman arms are fully splined every 10 degrees..

Regarding PS adapters;

Special Adapters

O Ring Port to JIC 37
Application;
"GM Power Steering with Saginaw Steering"
Different size adapters are listed. This adapter is O Ring Port for the PS Box and JIC 37 on hose end. I have these fittings in my drawer. They are supplied by Hydratech when you buy the Hydroboost Brake System to aid in interconnecting between the PS Box and Hydraboost, if needed.

This adapter is shown in the Picture

Also in the Weatherhead Catalog

Power Steering Make Up Information.
3 pages of adapters to use in making up Power Steering Hoses.
Description;
"On many of the late model cars the formed tubing from the old line with its complicated bends can be utilized to make up a new assembly. Just use a tube cutter to cut the old tube as close to the hose as possible. Then make up a new hose assembly with the flareless tube end ( ie, 06U-756) and attach to the old tubing. Reference Flareless tube assembly instructions on page 296-298"

I used this system on the Carryall for the PS Pump as I did not know about the above mentioned O Ring Port to JIC 37 adapters. It works great and only requires wrenches to assemble.

Stop at your Local Car Parts Store and ask if they will give you a Weatherhead Catalog. Even an old version will have this info, but maybe not on the same pages I quoted from. Plus, there is a ton of great hydraulic info in the catalog
