I have seen in hitch catalogs a "slider". This gooseneck hitch is made for a short bed; it carries the weight normally just in front of the axle while driving. Then, after towing is done and you are parking, it slides the hitch point back. THis prevents the jackknife type problems with cab impact with having a short bed in tight places.
