It's always a good idea to stay well back at a grade crossing when a train goes by. It doesn't have to be a derailed car either. A load may have shifted and broken the banding or the tie down chain. Broken banding or chain traveling at even a slow speed of 20-25 mph can put a hurt on someone standing to close.
