Need help wiring a 220v plug on spot welder

I got a miller spot welder with a 20A-250V twist lock 3 prong plug and I want to change it to a three prong with the u shaped ground, a vertical blade on left 9:00 and horizontal blade on the right 3:00 when looking at the plug with ground at 12:00. Three wires are green, white, black. The new plug is 20A-250V 6-20p by leviton. So green to ground, white to vertical, and black to the horizontal. Is this right as I don't want to smoke my welder.
