My mother-in-law, selling her house, had an offer on her house in NJ with stipulation that in-ground tank be removed. While removing they discovered leaks and the ground water/soil was contaminated. Sale is hung up while they support garage and dig out all soil under it and surroundings. This could take months and years to know it's all gone. Good part is that she bought tank insurance which is paying for all (up to $100k) but the $5000 deductible. You should look into that insurance!!
