Hello everyone,
Not related to powerwagons or dodge wcs, but thought you may have some experience with this issue. If it were a powerwagon or wc, I would solder a new fitting onto the radiator and it would be good for another 50 years.
Last weekend while working on my wife's car, my son and I broke off the 5/16" radiator overflow outlet off the plastic radiator. The outlet is located in the extreme top corner of the radiator. The car is a 2001 model with 75K miles.
I bought a 5/16" hose to 1/8" pipe adapter, drilled out the broken outlet, tapped, and screwed in the adapter. I covered the adapter with the epoxy putty made for radiators and gas tanks, and smoothed the putty out as far as possible (~1 1/2" diameter). I let the epoxy cure overnight, filled the radiator, and checked for leakes. So far, no problems.
My question is, how long will this repair last? Should I buy a replacement radiator and replace it in the near future(like next time I flush the cooling system)?
Thanks,
Dave
