I think Todd is referring to car 361-383 engines.

The truck 361 has gear to gear timing, reverse rotation distributor, directly fed from water pump heads, slant angle exh manifold and bolts.

The 383, although found in trucks, is really a car engine. There was no "premium" truck 383, like you will find in \6, 318-3, 361-2,3, 413 2,3,4, etc.

I would stick with all 383 if you intend to gain horsepower.
