After preassembling the bed and drilling the holes for the bolts to go into bedrails I used a top bearing flush trim bit and router to countersink where the washer go. I used a hole saw and drilled another piece of wood that I clamped to the bedwood that acted as a guide for the router bit. Worked real well. Hope this helps someone who may be scatching there head on this one
