Have you sat in, or driven, a Honda CRV?
Comparing it to a Jeep is like comparing a sirloin steak to Twinkies.
My 2007 cost $27,000. It rides like a dream, hugging the road and giving an incredible driving feedback. The seats do not feel like the Jeep "paper towel over plywood" construction. It has gotten 25 mpg overall since new.
Every feature and amenity, small or large, is well thought out, and works flawlessly.
I would say that down the road a few hundred thousand miles, would be the time to do a comparison of value, which is a result of good engineering, careful assembly technique, and attention to detail.
For the record, I am not an engineer, but I have the mindset. My wife, admittedly, is a woman. Some women are engineers, and some engineers are women, Norm, but I'm not sure how that works out in your theory.
