Having read your inquiry, and the replys, my input
isprobably redundant, but here goes anyway. The
large hole IS for the temperature sensor. I have
only had experience with the WC 1/2 ton series, and
PWs from '46 on up. I have a number of these engines
lying about, and they all have these holes. Does not
the M-37 series have a temp sensor in this location.
The small holes are, indeed, for mounting a type of oil
bracket. I believe my '41 WC3 has such a mount. My
impression was that the small threaded holes were
blind, but I may be mistaken. Hope I have been of some help.
