Check the following:
1. Disconnect a battery cable and strike against the battery post for sparks. This will indicate a ground someplace requiring higher charging.
2. Start your engine. If your negative ground, disconnect the negative battery cable and plug in an ampmeter gauge using two wires: 1 connected to the cable and 1 connected to the battery post. You may have to swicth wires until you get positive charging. Check primary circuit and secondary (Lights on). This will validate your instrument gauge.
3. Using a wire, bypass the ignition switch to see if you experience any drop in volts. This will indicate possible bad switch.
4. If you still experience high charging volts, replace your voltage regulator and recheck.
Part = Borg Warner R183 (12 volt PW)
You should see the gauge drop 15 or less on a full charged battery on std OEM equipment.
