... the 1964 W200 actually runs. Got it started today, and drove it up to the house to air up the tires, and then back down to the parking area. A bit of blow-by, a loose valve or two, and problems with the carb linkage from the "Super Six" carb and manifold the last guy bolted on. Still, it's aways a thrill when you first put it in gear - will the brakes work?
Now it's lots and lots of fixing and tweaking to get it in driving condition. Maybe I'll fix the instruments on this one - I've never had an old truck with very many guages that worked, it might be fun. This truck has an eight-track (remember those?) radio deck and two speakers in a homemade plywood console in front of the seat. I switched it on to see if it worked, twiddled the tuning knob (remember those too?), and hit a "classic country" station by chance - talk about a "back-to-the-past" moment - it was great being 10 years old for a minute!
I will post pictures if someone will tell me how.
