I've done lots and lots of firewood log winching over the years. I know the risks of which you speak. It would seem that locking the rear driveline would still be effective in your application. I have often use another small tree, hooking the chain close to the ground so it doesn't pull it over on my truck. The Mico Brake lock is still a good option for further holding, but relatively expensive. JH
