Be careful...turning that screw is adictive & can be very expensive!
The screw is on the back of the Injection Pump & has a collar spot welded to it so you can't turn it in very far. In order to increase the fuel much, you have to back off the lock-nut & remove the screw & then get a dremel & carefully remove the colar without damaging the threads.
WARNING!
When you turn the fuel up it doesn't just make smoke...it makes way more power & way more heat. Don't even consider it if you don't have a Pyro gauge or you may be buying a new Cummins soon!
Once you have a Pyro...don't ever run your truck over 1250 degrees on the pyro.
It's a fine balancing act making more power & finding ways to get more air into the engine so you can use the power.
If you're running a First Gen truck & you have a stock auto transmission or a Getrag...I wouldn't recommend any screw turning until you deal with that issue.
Take it from a guy that's blown up both! LOL!
Once you start chasing hp...I hope you have a big wallet!
It snowballs on you. You want a bigger turbo, bigger exhaust, better torque converter/clutch, stronger rear end, bigger drive shafts more turbo's!
It never ends.
It's all fun but I recommend leaving it be...your wife will thank me!
