dont assume i made my mind up before posting. ive used both kits, although have used many more pertronix kits than the mopars because of ease of installation and the wide range of applications that are offered. exactly how is the mopar unit better? is it the awesome & reliable ballast resistor, the need to add more wiring or the need to ground the box when you install it? is it the fact that it is technology that is from 1972 that complicates matters more then is needed? is it the fact that it has a mopar logo on the orange control box?? is the fact that the new distributor you install might have weights and vaccum advance settings different than is required for the vehicle? that is what is the actual performance gain of the mopar unit vs the pertronix II and blaster coil? how does it run circles around the pertronix? how is that performance edge (if there is one) achieved installed on a truck engine in trucks weighing as much as they do. ive noticed that in your posts that you get personal and accuse before you know. calling yourself mopar norm doesnt make it so to anyone but you. if ultimate performance and dependability were the aim, a gm hei type unit is the ticket as its dead simple and mega reliable - parts available everywhere. dont assume that im cheap because i didn't choose to install the same kit as you. i spend and can spend whatever is required to build my trucks the way i want. in my application i used a rebuilt dist, a new flamethrower coil and ignitor kit for less money than the electronic kit. your way doesnt address the coil. the pertronix kit comes with a 30 mth warranty too.
