Spindle Update - New Problem

Bob's tool worked pretty well. I am able to get the nut back on anyway.

New problem: there is a crack in the key channel of the spindle - about 1/16 wide at the end and it goes about an inch in toward the pumpkin.

Looks like I'll be needing that new axle. Anyone have another idea on it?
