My truck came from upstate New York in the snow/salt belt. In several places the sheet metal was eaten through, and the frame was pitted.
The sheet metal on the driver side was noticibly worse than the passenger side.
My guess is its because the the salt trucks, when spreading, deposit more in the middle of the road than on the edges, therefore the driver sides get more salt exposure and thus rust through.
