I might be wrong about the Diesel offerings in the D100s, might've been Mitsus not Isuzu.
I do know for sure that the Nissan 3.3L Diesel as used in the IHC Scout, along with a 2.2L 4 cylinder, was imported by Chrysler in the 70s. I have old "Hot Rod" type books from the era showing the 2.2L being swapped into Pintos for nearly 60 MPG! The joke was that you pulled the (then-new) gasser out, swapped in the Diesel, drove it until the car started to fall apart, then re-installed the factory gasser you'd stored on the garage floor and sold the Pinto with a "new" engine after installing the Diesel in a newer Pinto!
