I pulled my springs from the W300 today, knowing that one of the bolts that thread into the top of the housing on the passenger side was broken. A friend suggested this idea and it worked great. I put a very thin cutting wheel in my 4" angle grinder and held it vetically over the top of the broken bolt. I carefully cut a slot into the top of the bolt that a good size screwdriver would fit in. Then I heated the bolt cherry red, melted parafin on top of it, sprayed lots of PB Blaster on it, and screwed it right out. I figured it would be a big hassel and it turned out easy. Now when the springs get back from re-arcing and adding 2 more leaves to support the winch and the plow, it gets back on the road. JH
