We have different areas at our dump for stuff. You dont just back up to the hole and dump out what ever. They have a tire pile and you throw your tires there. The tire stores here charge you a fee for disposal and then they haul them out to the landfill when you buy new tires. Being the cheap skate that I am I take my old tires home with me and haul them out to the dump on my next trip.
We also have a hazzardous chemical area for used oil or paints. We have a demolition area where you take your old wood and shingles and stuff. Old appliances go to an appliance pile and things like tv's and some furniture are throwed into big roll on/off dumpsters. We have a local junk guy that cleans up the appliance pile. It can range from fridges to old grills and bikes.
