Many ambulanecs were used by the signal corps during WW II, so a winch in NOT unheard of on em. There was also the "Zeta" unit, which was a behind the line recon unit that also used WC 54's (3/4 ton ambulance) and WC 63's. I can send ya a picture of that unit if you'd like.
