NP420 vs M37 transmission

My np420 transmission to my '57FFPW has the oil fill on the passenger side. According to archived forum(7/25/2005)this means it is the same transmission as a "Late" M37 transmission.

DC Truck has a web site with a "Tranny ID pic" that shows my transmission as an "early" M37 transmission.

Is the NP420 used in the FFPW the same as the early or late M37 tranny?

I'm trying to locate gears( preferrably NOS) any souces?
