I'd rebuild it stock or maybe use some better clutches and bands for pulling. Most tranny shops should be able to do this. Get a torque convertor made for towing. The deep pan will help in cooling by having more fluid there to cycle through the system. A extra cooler inline will help also.
MAKE SURE THE THROTTLE PRESSURE LINKAGE IS ADJUSTED PROPERLY or you will burn the 727 up fast.
I hope you have a low gear rear end. This will help take strain off the tranmission. Without the overdrive of newer transmissions you got 3/4 of the battle won.
