If for some reason you lose your motor, you lose the compressor also, plus you lose engine horsepower having another belt.
The York is great for a service truck, not so great off-road.
Case in point, I ran through some deep, moving water and drown the distributor. Running solely on the Optima battery I cranked the engine in gear until I was across the stream, then popped the top off the distributor, blew out the water with the battery powered air compressor (I mentioned it in another post, Thomas Air/Pacific Scientific, it's a larger version of the Hummvee compressor, 2/3 hp.). A dried out distributor fired right up and away I went, you cannot do that with a York.
