hi tim, it is my understanding that it was standard practice for the manufacturers to coat the insides of " green" castings with glyptol. this was to reduce the chance of slag or sand to dislodge and circulate with the oil and perhaps taking out a crank or brg. and becoming a warranty issue.since these parts are now seasoned and also sandblasted i would not bother to paint the insides.just clean real well before assy.if parts are going to sit for a while before going into service just coat the insides with gear oil to prevent rust. just my 2 cents. good luck, jim.
