If you are not in a big hurry, you can get "green" white oak really CHEAP and do things yourself.
If in a hurry you need to get kiln dried oak or some that has alrady been air dried. Check at a country sawmill.
I bought green white oak from my local sawmill. I got it slightly wider and longer to account for shrinkage, etc. I also got it 1" thick. Final thickness is said to be 13/16" for the bed.
The rule of thumb is one year of drying for every inch of thickness. After it dries, you can plane and rabbett it and install.
