Either way, it appears that Daimler has milked all of the money that they can out of Chrysler, so what remains will be broke and unable to renovate, expand or design many new products.
When first purchased, Chrysler had a 6 billion cash surplus, that immediately went to germany to modernize and bail out a failing Mercedes. As late as 2005, Chrysler was still shipping funds to germany to help bolster lagging Mercedes sales.
Poor product choice, poor designs, poor marketing have been the Chrysler stamp over the last 4 years. Although Chrysler out sold Ford in the last quarter of 2006, Toyota passed Chrysler in that quarter and Ford is diving out of sight, having slipped to number 4 behind GM, Toyota and Chrysler.
I don't know what the future will bring, but time is running out for Dodge and Jeep.
Will they go the way of Plymouth?
