My '52 M37 came with a 318 and a blown NP540. I've got a bead on an NP542 with OD out of an older Ford and am wondering if this would be a good swap candidate.
Can anyone tell me if the 542 gut's can be placed into a 540 case. Or perhaps I can use the input from the 540 to replace the 542's. If the Ford input shaft will work with the 318 or if an adapter is available. Same with Bell housing.
