Hi Gordon,
I think you had it right the first time, Rustoleum damp proof red oxide primer. Then finish off with Rustoleum. I use
Rustoleum satin black for frame, running gear, and fenders, etc. I don’t run total stock, however I run Olive Green cab
and body over satin black. Rustoleum does not make an olive green you say? Easy. Take one can of Rustoleum Hunter
Green and one can of Rustoleum Leather brown, (1 to 1 equal parts) and you will have a beautiful gloss olive green so
close to the original as to be indistinguishable. Need a satin olive green? Simple, just add 1 equal part of all purpose
flatting base, (PPG DX 265) etc. Again, 1 part Rustoleum Hunter Green, 1 part Leather Brown, 1 part all purpose flatting
base. Spray ready. You will have a beautiful satin olive green Rustoleum that you can duplicate any time anywhere, touch
up, repaint any time, anywhere. I pre-mix the olive green then add the flatting base as I need it, as the shelf life is reduced
with the total mix. You can go nuts trying to keep all these OD Greens and their shades under control. This way you will
be in control. The tone is quite beautiful, good depth. Try a couple of pints you’ll like it.
1 part Hunter Green (7738)
1 part Leather Brown (7775)
1 part All Purpose Flatting Base (PPG DX 265)
Keep em rolling,....Jackson
