My 230 is from 1948 and I put new seals in it and I used the newer style of seal.It had the newer style in it that I replaced and it worked out fine.........no leaks yet!If you put the engine on a stand be sure and leave room between the back of the motor and the stand because those are tiny bolts that hold the top and bottom seals in place and you need to get a wrench in there and space is a real premium at that spot.Be sure and oil the seals good before you mount them up.Good luck.
