A while back I posted a request for info on a 49 b1pw that was possibly military. (it has U.S. ARMY on the doors with the #s 2448683 underneath. as well as o.d. green overspray on everything, axles, springs, frame and crossmembers, bottom of transmission, transfer case etc.) I got alot of great feedback but I have to admit I was still unsure about what I had until the other day. On a lead from a guy I met at the parts store I found myself in a field starring at a truck almost identical to mine.(pick-up bed , winch same level of deterioration etc. the only diffrence were the #s under the army logo. Here is where odd kicks in. This truck is apx. 100 mi. from where I bought my truck(also in a field) and there is only 312 #s diffrence on the vin. (mine is 83913165 the other is 83912853) Both trucks are about 50 miles from an old army base in Mineral Wells TX. that closed years ago. This all just seemed very strange to me. So what are the odds of finding a truck with a vin that close to mine and do you think this should be taken as a sign that these were probably military base use trucks? thanks , Dwight.
And yes, I am going to buy the other truck.
