That's what I do. My free wheeling hubs have bearings inside that the axle fits in and prevent the differential from turning. When I want or need the front end engaged, I switch to splined hubs. Murphy's Law says I will not be in the middle of no where with a broke quick change hub.
Quick Change Kit:
- Splined hubs
- Two 6 inch bolts to pull the bearing hubs
- Spare gaskets
- 9/16th box end wrench
- 10 minutes of time
