I was just kidding about the county being rich, but that is still a spendy-looking machine. As I recall, after the mines in Republic shut down, and most of the sawmills too, Okanogan county used to get most of its income from dope growing. I never understood why they cracked down on it. Smuggling should also be a good source of revenue, with such a long and unpatrolled border with Canada. I remember at one time, the feds gave the Sheriff a helicopter to bust the dope growers with, but the county commissioners refused to appropriate money for fuel.
But I understand in your county a lot more people live way out in the boonies than in mine. In Shoshone County very few people live more than a mile from either a state highway, the Dobson Pass road, or one of the gulches of the Silver Valley. There's private land all over the hills, but very few people try to live there year round and those that do figure on doing a lot of plowing.
