rim types

I took the rims off a 52 brush truck to clean them up and put new tires on them. When I took them apart the spare had a 1 piece ring and the other 4 had a two piece ring. When I looked at my 46 and 48 they all had the one piece ring. One better than the other? Also one of my rims has a tire one it that weighs twice what all the others do or more. I wonder if it is liquid filled or did they ever make solid rubber tire? I haven't yet attempted to take it apart. I bought STA tires made right here in Indiana PA. I'm anxious to try them out in the mud!
